Psalm 68:19 says, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, The God who is our salvation.”

Often our eyes get so focused on the bad things going on around us and we forget to be thankful for all the good in our lives. My encouragement to you is simply this: Deliberately find some amazing things to be thankful for this week and praise the the living God for them! Cast your cares and conserns on Him and take the time to thank Him for what he has already done!

Just a reminder that our annual trunk or treat is this Saturday night! And we need everyone’s help. The festivities will open to the public at 7pm so We need everyone else there early to help get everything set up. This is going to be an amazing night to love on our neighbors! I hope you have put some thought into your trunk decorations as well as your own costume!!! I was thinking of something like this:

One of my personal favorite preachers! I came across this quote and thought it was too good not to share!

“The gospel is preached in the ears of all; it only comes with power to some. The power that is in the gospel does not lie in the eloquence of the preacher; otherwise men would be converters of souls. Nor does it lie in the preacher’s learning; otherwise it would consist in the wisdom of men. We might preach till our tongues rotted, till we should exhaust our lungs and die, but never a soul would be converted unless there were mysterious power going with it—the Holy Ghost changing the will of man. O Sirs! we might well preach to stone walls as to preach to humanity unless the Holy Ghost be with the word, to give it power to convert the soul.”

May we, as a youth group and part of LWCC, be ever dependent, not upon our own abilities or talents, but upon Your Spirit to breath on Your church and cause it to give you all the glory that You deserve! Amen!

For those of you odniters that do not know who Richard Dawkins is, He is a huge defender of Darwinian evolution.  If Thomas Henry Huxley was called “Darwin’s bulldog” for being a pugnacious defender of evolution… Richard Dawkins has been called “Darwin’s Rottweiler”… Him and a few others are leading a movement called “neo-atheism” but I really think it is the same old dribble. The more I see of these guys, the less scary they become. Here is a video of Stephen Colbert making Dawkins look stupid. enjoy…

It was just a rumor. But among the radical Muslims in Pakistan’s Gojra village, a rumor was enough of an excuse to kill.

When the rumor was broadcast from the loudspeakers on the minarets of local mosques, it became fact. As part of a wedding ceremony, the loudspeaker shouted, Christians tore pages from a Quran. Then they compounded the disrespect by walking on the shredded pages.

“Defend Islam!” The loudspeaker called. Muslims answered, rampaging through a Christian section of Gojra on Aug. 1.  The mob, which was estimated to be more than 20,000 people, burned over 100 Christian homes,  the church and murdered many Christians including women and children.

Emergency personnel did not reach Gojra for more than five hours. Christians were forced to use vegetable carts to move their dead and wounded to the hospital.

Responding to an international outcry, Pakistani government officials have now said no Quran was actually desecrated.  Please don’t forget to pray for our brother and sisters who are suffering for Christ in Pakistan and around the world!

A Christian home set on fire by Muslims

It has been a while since we gave you all an update on Gao Zhisheng at an Open Door meeting so here is the latest update from Voice of the Martyrs.  According to www.freegao.com, Gao has now been held captive with no contact for 202 days.  China Aid Association staff recently delivered more than 100,000 signatures to the Chinese Embassy, requesting the release of Gao Zhisheng. They were allowed inside the embassy, but when embassy officials saw the petition they told the China Aid staff to leave and the authorities refused to accept the petition.  Please continue to pray for Gao and his family as well as all of the persecuted church across the world.
