Living out the timeless message of the cross in our generation

Noah’s Ark version 2.0

November10

ATTN: ALL ODNITE’ers!!!!  So this guy who lives in the Netherlands decided he was going to build a life-sized replica of Noah’s ark.  He began building it way back in May 2005.  Johan Huibers did the work mostly with his own hands, using modern tools and with occasional help from his son Roy.  Huibers rejects the secular, humanistic theory of evolution and embraces Biblical creationism and a literal intrepetation of Scripture. He built the ark to scale: 150 cubits long, 30 cubits high and 20 cubits wide. That’s two-thirds the length of a football field and as high as a three-story house. Life-size models of giraffes, elephants, lions, crocodiles, zebras, bison and other animals greet visitors as they arrive in the main hold.  A children’s petting zoo is coming soon.  Near the keel of the boat, He built a 50 seat theater where people can watch a video that tells the Biblical account of Noah.  You can read the story for yourself by clicking here. Make it part of your Bible reading this week!

Something Kinda Cool

November4

Ok, so you may or may not have seen these, but I think they are pretty cool and this one especially… basically this website allows you to upload any picture and convert it into a picture comprised of letters… I did it with our Open Door Youth Ministry logo (click on the pic to see the full size) but you can try it with any picure you want.  What great about this particular website is that you can even tell it what letters to use, how big you want the letters and what colors.  Then save it and use it as a profile pic on your Myspace or something. haha.  Try it yourself!

Vision of You…

October31

This is a really cool song, written by some really cool guys. If you read into the lyrics, or listen to what he (Shane) says before the song starts you can get a little more insight to what the song is fully about, but pretty much its just about wanting more of God above anything else in our lives. And even aside from the lyrics, their harmonies are unreal lol So enjoy :)

The Most Valuable…

October20

So I was browsing through some blogs I occasionally look at and I found one that got me thinking a lot. (scarey, I know!) Here is a list of some of the most expensive/costly/valuable things on the planet that a person can possess. All of these are available to you and currently in production.  They are not limited edition gold plated baseball cards made in 1893 that you can’t own cause there are only 2 in existence! Also I am sure that an aircraft carrier would be the most expensive “boat” you could own but you can’t buy an aircraft carrier so that doesn’t count. lol  Anyway, here you go:

Most Costly Motorcycle

The Ecosse Moto Works’ Limited Edition Titanium – $275,000

Yes, you read correctly. Two hundred and seventy-five grand – for a bike. Probably more than most can afford. haha

Most Expensive Car

I will just deal with cars currently on the market, although some vintage cars are fetching silly prices. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4  – $1,192,000

That certainly is a pretty car, but more than a million dollars for a car? Holy rusted metal Batman!! Not only is it the most expensive car in production, it is also one of the fastest cars in the world. 265 mph.

Most Expensive Cellular Phone

The GOLDVISH “Le Millions” – $1,200,000

If you thought $1 million plus for a car was expensive, this thing makes the Bugatti Veyron look decidedly cheap. Apart from the 120 carats of diamonds set in white gold, a pretty ordinary phone. That makes phone calls. It is not as though you get your own private cellular network or anything. Exclusively for those with more money than common sense.

Most Expensive Laptop Computer

The Bentley Ego – $20,000

Styled to look like a purse, the Bentley Ego is a fairly pathetic computer with the handle from a Bentley motor car for carrying. Hard to imagine a more useless and worthless piece of junk computer.

Most Valuable Island

Vatu Vara in Fiji – $40,000,000

Yes this island is actually for sale! It has been for quite some time! People have enough of a hard time trying to sell their houses right now… can you imagine trying to sell an island?  Nicknamed Hat Island for obvious reasons, the island will probably continue to stay on the market!

Most Expensive Hamburger

“The Burger” – $200

Burger King, the home of the Wopper, is selling this at one location only in London. The fine ingredients of what is called simply ‘The Burger’ include Wagyu beef, white truffles, Pata Negra ham slices, Cristal onion straws, Modena balsamic vinegar, lambs lettuce, pink Himalayan rock salt, organic white wine and shallot infused mayonnaise in an Iranian saffron and white truffle dusted bun. All that aside, NO HAMBURGER IS WORTH $200!!!

The World’s Most Costly Home

Mukesh Ambani’s private residence – $2,000,000,000

Now, there are some who would say that 2 billion dollars for a building within sight of the largest slum in Asia was the height of bad taste. And I would have to agree with them. lol

Most Valuable Box of Chocolate

Le Chocolat – $1,500,000

Le Chocolat features a selection of Lake Forest Confections gourmet chocolates, selected by the confectioners master candy maker, as well as an arrangement of magnificent jewelry from Simon’s personal jewelry and gemstone vault. The price tag is $1,500,000. The jewelry that comes along with the box of chocolates includes a “priceless” collection of natural yellow and blue diamonds, emeralds, and sapphires from Simon’s Jewelers. (How priceless can it be with a price tag?)

The #1 Most Valuable Thing Ever

The Word of God – $PRICELESS$

That’s right! Everything the creator of the universe and sustainer of all life wants us to know about Him is recorded for us in the Bible! It should be cherished more then all the money in the world! There is nothing more valuable and there should be nothing that has a higher priority in our lives! Make sure you spend time getting to know it well! How else will you get to know Him well?
